WATER FOR PEACEã

--POWER FOR WELLS:  GEOTHERMAL, SOLAR, WIND, WATER AND FOSSIL FUEL

Pumps are often needed to lift water, for example,  from holding ponds, or ground water reservoirs.  Often where the power is most needed, it is most difficult to get.  The wind mill has operated very successfully for centuries.  Recent innovations have made this source of energy more desirable.  Solar panels have also improved, as have storage batteries.   These two forms of renewable energy may be enlisted to supply  water world wide.  Another important source of energy for water is water itself--for example:  geothermal energy as a source of power.  Large public works are constructed world wide to harness this renewable resource with high head dams .  Smaller "low head dams" are also of great value.  On site gasoline pumps are very common but the cost of fuel is often prohibitive.  In supplying water, the economics and environment must be considered.

Here at Water For Peace, we are making available links to information on construction and maintenance of solar, wind, low-head dam and fossil fuel pumps.
